How Not To Overthink in Life | About Overthinking | Avoid Overthinking

Have you ever thought about Overthinking? It's quite humorous if I say you to think about overthinking. Come on, you have that moment at Keats once where you imagined many scenarios to that one incident that bothered you until you saw the actual outcome. 

Stop Overthinking

Well, that isn't the solution though. You can't overthink something, because it's not healthy. And there is a dangerous chance of you falling prey to mental illness. 

And we all know just how bad mental illnesses can be. A person gets half cured if he/she wants to get cured. Hence, you need to stop overthinking. 

How do we do that? 

Well, here are a few ways you can: 

Type of thoughts

Well, you are the master of your mind. And no one can convince you unless you allow yourself to be convinced. 

First of all, you must convince yourself that it is what it is. And that you cannot undo what has been done before, so there is no use thinking about it. Also, you cannot produce the future merely by thinking about it. 

Hence, it's just a waste of time. Instead, you can focus on your present and try to change what's in front of you, and which is within your capacity. 

If it's not within your capacity, then it's not your fault or responsibility to take care of that issue. So, don't worry about it. Because that was out of your hands. And bound to happen. 

How to Avoid Overthinking

A man is what his thoughts tell him. If you tell yourself that you are ugly, no matter how good you look to others, you will always find faults in yourself. Right? Don't do that. Every day, whenever you see your reflection, smile and tell yourself just how amazing you look with that beautiful smile. 

Moreover, has it ever happened to you that you see something new, and it feels like it's going to take a long time to do it? Maybe it's hard and you won't be able to do it? Well, you should close your eyes, take a deep breath and say, "I can do this. I'm the perfect person for this job and that's why I will nail it!" 

Remember, the first step is always the hardest. But it gets easier once you decide to not give up. So don't give up until you have given your all. 

Face those fears. 

Everyone has their demons. Nothing is belittling about being afraid of something that isn't frightening to someone else. And each one of us, when we face those fears that keep us on our toes, is the bravest person. 

Being afraid of something leads to overthinking. It consumes us, making us paranoid and crazy. 

What would they think about us? Will I make a mistake? What if I fall? Will they laugh at me?

We suffer more in our thoughts than in reality. And that's the reason why we must limit our thoughts and accept reality as it comes. 

Focus on things you are in control of

Focus

Some things aren't under our control. And that is why, we must accept the fact that not everything is in our hands, and turn our attention to things we can change and control. 

You can take a minute to analyze the things you are worried about and see what you can govern over. If you are worrying over the bills, then don't. Instead, look at the expenses, because you can monitor the amount of money you spend on things. 

It's really easy, you can start now! 

 Take Notes

If your thoughts overwhelm you, you can always take a notepad and list down all the things that were bothering you. 

Then, you can address them one by one, seeing if you can find a solution to each of them or not. This decreases half of the stress and anxiety. Sometimes just voicing out your thoughts help you find the solution to the problem you are facing. 

And that's why it's always good to pen down your thoughts whenever it gets overloaded! 

Let the Past Go

Yes, we sometimes go back to that one moment, or that one point of our life that had an impact on us. Whether good or bad and sometimes we spend our time thinking, what if I had done this, would it have changed anything? 

Let's be honest, do you believe that by thinking about it, would anything that already happened would change? No, right? So then why fret over something that already happened? 

Overthinking

That's why you must always make the best out of your present. We cannot change the past, but we can change our present, right? 

The crux is that only you can change your perception. And that's not something that isn't possible, right? Maybe you didn't get to eat your breakfast because it wasn't tasty enough. Or maybe you had to take a long turn so you can remember those places/things when you need them. 

Everything that happens to you in this life, has a purpose. And that's why, whatever happens, happens for the good.
