GREETINGS!
Have you ever thought that 24 hrs are not enough for you? If yes, then you are wrong. If you think you have more work than the time, WORK>TIME, then this means that you are bad at planning. We all know Elon Musk, he also has 24 hours and 7 days a week. He doesn't sacrifice sleep and gyming too but still, he is still able to manage two companies.
The reason for this is because of his productivity and work quality.
I have seen many podcasts where successful people advise to manage time and read some 5-10 books which one way or the other talk about our productivity.
So here are some of the best tips which will help you manage your time.
To keep it interesting I will explain the ways by taking a case study of a college student.
Example: Let us take the example of a 3rd-year college student, named, Akhil.
Akhil has 24hrs in a day, he is working for 13-15 hrs and sleeping for 7hrs.
Works-
- Attending Lectures (5 hrs)
- Doing assignment (1 hrs )
- Self-study(1hrs)
- Internships (3 hrs )
- gyming (1 hrs)
- online courses from udemy (1 hrs)
- youtube/guitar/other passion (1hrs)
Now how can he get his best in this 24 hour?
1. Decide the time
Decide
how much time will you dedicate to each work. You can use the below '
urgent/important matrix' to do the find out your priorities.
2. Organise your work properly
Arrange all your work properly. Complete the task if similar nature in one go In the above example, we can arrange the work in the following way-
RELATED TO STUDIES
Attending Lectures
Udemy courses
RELATED TO INTERNSHIP
Internship
Prepare report
SELF TIME
Gyming
Date
Playtime
HOMEWORK/ASSIGNMENT
Assignment
Prepare for the test.
3. Say yes to multitasking
Multi-tasking may be your enemy if you didn't plan it properly. So plan prior. Arrange your work in a proper and organized way. Read the example for a better understanding.
Ex:
Firstly complete all the work related to studies which include, attending lectures and udemy course.
Then do the work related to the internship, then work assignment, and at last the self-time. Now, this is just an example. You can do whatever you want first,i.e. don't let others decide your priority.
NOTE:- Check and write a comment on the relationship between organizing the work (point 2) and multi-tasking (point 3)
4. Don't take breaks
One of my teachers said have said that breaks break the flow while studying. I have observed that this myself. To avoid breaking your flow sit for a longer duration at a time.
There is a simple maths applied here, a person working for 4hrs in 3 sittings (4*3=12hrs ) and taking a break of 30min in between will achieve more than a person working for 1 hr and taking a break for 10min for 5 times (1*5=5).
5. Follow the two-minute rule
It is believed that if start the given work within 2min, then the chances of incompletion of work is very low. This method is very useful for those who procrastinate.
Example:
It is believed that if you didn't wake up within the two minutes of the alarm voice, then the chances of your waking up are low.
6.Track the time
Track the time and limit it from unproductive activities. Time is more precious than money. Never save your time, invest it as much as you can, you will get the return in the long term.
.
Start slow. You cannot become the most productive person in the day. To become habitual of productivity start with small things.
Keep your goals small, at the start.
8. Avoid disturbances
We have a lot of disturbances. As per me, disturbances are all the things that avoid us to complete our goal. Disturbances may be anything like Instagram, Whatsapp notification, etc.
So you should find them out and try to reduce them.
9. Apply 80/20 rules
This is the best thing I have ever come across. Your 80% of the result is derived from 20% of the work done. To find out and give priorities to that 80% of the work done.
10. Find out the time for yourself
Most people think that to be successful we should never enjoy, we should avoid Netflix, we should avoid planning. But I think enjoyment is the best part. If you have done something in a day and week, you deserve to get a me-time...
11. Use your time preciously, read as much as you can. You can read books, blogs, etc and we are the best for self-improvement.
