People with ADHD have a trio of self-regulatory impairments. Concentration is either poor or intense. There’s restlessness - with hyperactive or fidgety behaviour. Impulsive or addictive tendencies are the third feature of ADHD.
ADHD can be inherited. It may even have an evolutionary feature. A 2008 Northwestern University research paper suggests that members of a Kenyan nomadic community with ADHD - those who still had to hunt for their food - were better nourished than those without ADHD.
It is a common neurodevelopmental disorder child with ADHD finds it challenging to pay attention and they can be very active.
They may also have trouble controlling impulsive behaviourss.
ADHD is diagnosed in childhood and lasts into adulthood.
A child with ADHD may show these symptoms:Inattentive - daydreams, easily distracted, experiences difficulty in focusing on tasks and playHyperactivity and impulsivity:
fidgeting, interrupting activities and conversations and difficulty with waiting turn for their turn.
For adults, the symptoms may change Low self-esteem, Anxiety, Difficulty in controlling their anger.
ADHD is thought to be caused by a combination of factors like Genetics - which tends to run in families brain structure and function - research has found possible differences in the brain of individuals with ADHD. Certain areas of the brain may be smaller and other areas may be larger. Research also suggests that there may be an imbalance in neurotransmitter levels or that they may not function properly.
Pregnancy Issues - premature birth, low birth weight and difficulty increase the chance of developing ADHD.

Pregnant women who drink or smoke may also have a higher risk of having a child with this condition. It could be that some toxins interfere with brain development resulting in impulsive behaviour and hyperactivity.
